Teeth

You can't see all his teeth in this picture. Don't blame the photographer, blame the camera. We still have our first digital camera and 4 years ago the camera's had this 2 second delay after pressing the button. So when he giggles and opens his mouth wide I am always 2 seconds too late. 2 seconds is a bit overstating it, but you get the point and yes, I tried pressing the button before he giggles, but that resulted in a lot of pictures of the back of his head ...
Back to the point: His first teeth were the two lower ones at 6 months, then came the two upper ones at 8 months 1 week. The second pair of upper teeth he got at 9 months 3 weeks. And just now at 11 months and 1 week the second lower pair is coming through. We will be counting 8 teeth by his first birthday!
His teeth are coming in early, but I heard that it is inherited and after checking with my parents: it is true I had my teeth very early.

Lina's ball

Sam has this great giggle when he is playing with Lina. Also when we were in Milan without Lina for a couple of days, he would scream out a sound of joy when he saw a dog. It was very cute. Tonight when I put him to bed and he fell asleep he did one of those giggles. He must have been dreaming of doggys. He comes with me to the dog park every day and he loves watching the dogs play.

Fascination

Sam has discovered the household machines. He likes to climb into the dishwasher and examine all parts and take some of it apart. He loves the propeller part the most and spins it around (though in this picture he is sitting on it). He also has stuck his head in a front-loading washing machine and he plays with the door of the washing machine. Open-close ... and that many many times. I was scared for his fingers, but he seems to have figured it out how to not get his fingers caught after just one time of pinched fingers.

Trouble

The dirt - I can explain. Actually, I cannot. I was searching all afternoon for the keys that I last saw in Sam's hands. I checked everywhere, in every corner he likes to play, in Lina's bed, under the couch, in the shoe box, in the garden, etc. Guess where I found them after hours of searching - in the paper recycle bin. Don't ask! And while I was not looking, he decided to get on dirty and had a little taste of it too.

Drumming

Sam was drumming with his hairbrush (which we never really use for his hair) on a watering-can.
Today I thought that I should use this blog for jotting done all the "Firsts". So here we go:
This week Sam did Peek-a-boo by himself. He has a great smile when he peeks from under his hiding place. Last week we played hide-and-seek behind couches. There was a lot of laughter from him, while Doug and I had sore knees within minutes. I have to add, that after playing for just a little while, Sam figured out that if we disappear at one end of the couch, we would then come out at the other end. So he would take a shortcut and go to that other end. Furbo!

Sam is 11 months today!

Today is Sam's 11th months birthday and again we went to the beach. This time with our friends Vale and Davide, and Elisa, Francesco and their little bambino Giovanni. We put a bamboo mat on top of the sand and Sam was fine with that.

First blog!

Okay, so I thought that maybe this will be less time and easier to get pictures of Sam to you all. I will give it a try.

Today we went to the Kite Festival in Cervia. No we didn't buy a kite, not yet. But if you were to ask Doug he would say that he loved one and is "researching" for the right one. Yes, I have to be careful with him, he will loose himself not just in boats but also in kites. Everything that is light and carbon ... or light and strong.

Sam loved the kites, but did not like the sand at all. It came a bit as a surprise to us. He loves to play with dirt and loves to cruise around the garden, oh and he loves the water. We thought the beach would be a great place for him, but no, he screamed and cried and lifted his feet into the fetal position. We couldn't convince him otherwise.
